Culture project due 2/21 students have what is expected of the project in their notebooks.

Part One- Paper 100 Points Students will complete a three page report explaining the cultural aspects of one nation or cultural group in the world.  What are the interesting cultural parts of the society chosen? Discuss the language, values, norms, folkways, mores, taboos, beliefs, material objects (material culture), gestures, symbols, behaviors, superstitions, ideal verses real culture, and technology of this society.
This paper is due:   February 21, 2013
What does this society eat? How do they treat marriage? Feel about dating? When does an individual become an adult?  What ceremonies are important? Why? What negative pressures are there on society (racism?), and how are these pressures resolved? You are to show some examples of the above questions, or ones that show the unique flavor, taste or ongoing change that is going on in your chosen society.  Do not talk about things such as the population, land formations, annual rainfall.  These are not part of the culture. Please Cite all your work.  You must use Cultural Grams as one of your sources

Partners will be allowed. The combined paper total will then be four and a half pages. Both individuals will be involved with part two of this project.  There are only 2 allowed to a group.  No exceptions!

Class Part 2- Presentation 100 points Create a visual to help teach and/or share the experience of the culture you have researched. To do this, use the most interesting/vital aspects of your paper and give us a peek into the ways this society works. Your presentation should be rehearsed, appropriate and brief.  Be ready to handle a quick question or two.  You should give a few points that give a general overview of your culture and then pick one interesting aspect of the culture that you can elaborate upon.  Maybe some specific holidays or a subculture within your culture.
