Writing an Argument
Students will type a 2 page paper.  Students must research chosen topic and answer the question:
How did rural setting affect your topic?
Choose one (1) of the three (3) topics
1.  The Homestead Act
2. Yellow Fever
3. Life on the Oregon Trail  
Step one:  Research topic
Step two:  identify what is the importance of your choice though the history of America.
Step three: Develop a reason to why a rural setting had such a strong effect on your topic choice.
Essay format:
Introduction: Introduce your topic; what were the years throughout history was it most prevalent, how many people were effect by it, and what its importance through history.
Body of your essay:  This is when you are developing your argument. How did rural setting play into the topic you have chosen. You can bring in what was happening in urban areas during this time to compare how it affected both areas, but you main focus is to explain how rural areas were affected.
Through your research you must cite evidence that supports your ideas.  Do not forget to cite throughout the paper so that you do not plagiarize mistakenly.
Conclusion of the essay: This is the time to tie up any loose ends. Remember do not add any new information.

A Bibliography must be attached to the end of the paper.
